The building was beautiful, but the stay was really poor because of the other guests and the management. People in the rooms next to mine were loud and rude. You could hear everything through the walls, from late-night parties in the common area to sex at all hours. I was there for 11 days and never saw anyone from management, though there were cameras all over the building. What upset me most was being charged for a room key I had returned. The key spot was accessible to anyone, so someone could have taken it after I left. They wouldn’t show me footage to confirm I’d returned it, and charged me despite my attempts to appeal.

The place is comfortable and affordable, and quiet, but there was no room cleaning during our stay. It felt more like somewhere to come and sleep than a hotel, and there didn’t seem to be people around to help. Quito has frequent blackouts. On our last night, we came back during one without knowing when it would happen. Since the entrance doors run on electricity, we couldn’t get in. It was 2 a.m., raining and freezing, so we went to a 24-hour restaurant and waited for the power to return. We got back close to 6 a.m. and were still told to check out by 10. It was a miserable night. We asked for another night because nobody could let us in or offer a refund, but the administration did nothing beyond saying, “We called administration, but no answer.” Be careful about blackouts in Quito if you’re out.

When we checked in, there were hairs in the bed and suspicious stains on the sheets. The photos show only a small part of it. The entire bedsheet and top sheet had stains, including some brown marks. We contacted the hotel, but they said no one could help until the next morning, so we had to sleep in dirty sheets that night. We tried getting blankets from the laundry room, but they were all wet. Then the hotel stopped replying. After more than 13 years of travel, this was probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed in.

The check-in process was the most annoying and time-consuming one I’ve dealt with, and nobody was helping. There were stains on the bed, and the owner basically said we’d have to put up with them and maybe they’d change the sheets the next day. They wouldn’t help with my refund request either.

The rooms were filthy, with hair, dirty sheets and other mess, and the whole hotel had severe water damage. It looked nothing like the photos. There was no reception or security, and the downstairs doors didn’t close. We booked through Airbnb, and it was by far our worst experience. After I left a negative Airbnb review, they removed it and relisted the offering. It seems they’re hiding negative reviews from guests, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
