I found a nice stay for $15 a night in Quito's historic center at Hotel Mediterráneo Quito. It was close to everything, had a private bathroom, and the staff were very friendly. The address is Antonio Elizalde E4-78 and Gran Colombia, across from the Red Cross. I arrived from Ipiales, Colombia, on December 31, 2017, and asked my taxi driver to take me to a hotel with good, affordable prices. For anyone arriving at the Quito bus terminal during the day, taking one of the three bus lines is a better option: the Metrobus, the Trolleybus, or a regular bus. In 2018, they all cost 30 cents and went everywhere. A taxi to the historic center cost $8 in 2018.

The rooms were really comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It's close to several tourist sites, and the food and service were both good. My one suggestion would be to improve the Wi-Fi a little.

The front desk guy treated us very well. The place is clean, comfortable, safe, and centrally located, with a very good price for the quality. I liked it so much that if I get to visit Ecuador again, I'll definitely stay here.
