I can't recommend the hotel because of the neighborhood, the dated rooms, and the dull lobby, with the second floor closed off. The staff don't speak English, if that's important to you. The only decent food nearby that I found was a taco place: go left out the door, straight for two blocks, on the left across from the police station. The area seemed economically depressed after COVID, with shops shut and boarded up. It felt sketchy, and there were police stations everywhere. On weekends the area is used for recreational bicycle events. There wasn't much good food or shopping around. Getting an Uber there was really difficult: the driver circled around, gave up, and I had to walk 1 km with my luggage. Pickups were tricky too. I booked a Junior Suite for myself for a week, but on arrival it looked very dated, like the 1990s, tired and scuffed, and extremely feminine, with lots of purple and ballerina paintings. It had an entertainment layout and no proper desk for work. I turned it down and was given penthouse standard size room 1102 instead. That room was modern, had a wonderful view of Ruccu Pinchincha and the city, and worked great for my week. The top deluxe floor rooms are the only nice ones. Breakfast was nice and usually buffet style. The lobby was small and lousy, with a bar but no attendants. The elevator broke one day, so I had to walk up and down all 11 flights for breakfast. Internet was laggy with high ping, sometimes only 40 Mbit, but still okay for remote work.

Stefanie at the front desk deserves a special mention. She went above and beyond to help with anything we needed, and her English was excellent. The hotel was lovely and well located, and our corner suite had a breathtaking view. Breakfast was included and really good, especially the homemade jams. The downsides were the room WiFi, which didn't work well, and poor sound insulation. You could hear everything happening, so light sleepers should bring earplugs.

My room was clean and comfortable, and the restaurant was very good. The hotel is friendly, with helpful staff, especially Jennifer at reception, who's always excellent. There's secure underground parking with room for motorbikes. One small annoyance: the energy-saving lights in the halls use motion sensors, so the corridors are often dark until they pick up that you're there.

We came back and stayed here twice during our 24 days touring Ecuador. It was the nicest place we stayed, and surprisingly among the most affordable too. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was free and really nice. We loved everything about the hotel and highly recommend it.

The place is great and very well maintained. We had the PH, though maybe it was just bad timing and us not being used to the city, but there was a lot of road noise and activity around the party area. There's no AC or heat, which is normal here. I just like having that background noise.
