Hotel Casablanca Salinas

This is a solid three-star hotel on Salinas beachfront. It's clean, well designed, and makes good use of space. The pool area is nice, and my room was comfortable even though it wasn't large. The restaurant food was tasty, but the paid buffet breakfast felt disappointing for the price. Just around the corner, you can get a good breakfast for half as much. Employees did their jobs well and responded promptly, and there's free coffee and tea at reception all the time. The AC struggled to cool the room even on its coldest setting. I was surprised by the electrified showerhead. The water was hot, but a few times the cap on the side plug at the back popped out when I turned on the water, which then flowed from the rear spigot instead of the shower. I also don't understand why hotels won't put a simple clothes hook on the bathroom door. It costs less than $5 and gives guests somewhere to hang clothes. Earlier this year I bought two of those hooks at a Salinas hardware store for another local hotel to show how useful they are. I hate putting clothes on the bathroom floor, hanging them on the doorknob, or using the towel rack above the toilet. The room had a fridge with drinks and snacks, a small desk tucked neatly in a corner for computer work, and plenty of outlets. A small reading lamp would be nice, even just as a night light. I'd recommend the hotel since the positives outweigh the small drawbacks, and would book when its price is similar to other nearby hotels.
