Blue Bay Hotel

After renting more than five rooms, we were hit with an extra $200 charge over a pillow smudge that wiped off easily. The hospitality was awful and felt greedy, and I wouldn't stay here again. During the week, the front desk never had answers, breakfast was terrible, the rooms felt damp, a sheet was stained, and they never left toilet paper.

The staff handled our late arrival with a smile and great service after my flight was delayed and we checked in about two hours later than expected. The location is right on the beach and close to restaurants, banks, and pretty much anything you might need. My husband and I stayed here two years ago on our first trip as a couple. We're thinking of coming back now that we're married, which made me realize I never reviewed that stay. We really loved it, and they were very accommodating.

The suite is spacious and very clean, with a lovely view, though it has old furniture and hardly any equipment. There's no kettle or hair dryer, and I thought it was a bit expensive for what you get. It's right by the beach, but weekends bring lots of party noise. A group of pigeons hangs around the pool, drinks from it, bathes in the water outside it, and even comes onto the balcony during breakfast 😅

We had a spectacular oceanfront view from the sixth floor, and the hotel and rooms were clean and well kept. The two bedroom unit had a queen bed and bathroom in one room, two twin beds and a bathroom in the other, plus a half bath, kitchen, and living room. The balcony doors open all the way to let in the sea breeze, and the central AC worked well. Breakfast was continental, and both the food and service were great. There's a pool and jacuzzi by the first-floor lobby, and parking was provided for our rental car. I'll definitely stay again when I return to Salinas, Ecuador.
