Hostería Colibrí Aeropuerto

I didn’t find the staff especially good, and the breakfast was poor. There were probably around 100 flies in the breakfast area, which was honestly disgusting. The jacuzzi was nice, but two young local couples had it to themselves, played reggaeton loudly, and acted as if the whole place belonged to them. The room felt cold and small, more like a cottage than somewhere to relax and sleep well. The constant planes overhead might suit plane spotting, but they didn’t make for a peaceful atmosphere. I’m not sure why this place gets so many good reviews.

The view was breathtaking, and the atmosphere was peaceful in this quiet, remote spot near the airport. I’d highly recommend this hostal to anyone looking for a good place in Ecuador. It cost $25 per person per night, a bit expensive for Ecuador, though understandable given it’s only 10-15 minutes from the airport.

It’s a beautiful place in more of a farming area near the airport, but I found it uncomfortable and wouldn’t recommend it for a return trip. It’s also far from everything, so plan on getting a cab or renting a car. At $100 a night, it was overpriced. This felt like community lodging where the host invites family over for a pool day. Kids ran around yelling nonstop, and it was impossible to sleep during the day. If you need somewhere comfortable to stay during the day, go to Holiday Inn. This isn’t really a hostel; it felt like a day camp for kids. The beds were full of bed bugs and left me itching badly. The internet worked for only half the day, and they charge 6% for paying by debit or credit card, which felt like a scam.

I needed a place for a day between flights, and this quiet, relaxing hostel about 15 minutes from the Quito airport was just what I needed. My room was bright and clean, with high ceilings. The family who owns it were welcoming and friendly, and breakfast was complimentary, plentiful, and delicious. I also had hot water in the shower. No complaints!
