There were swarms of mosquitoes, and cleanliness was an issue.

The kids are always happy with the food at the restaurant, and there’s a covered canopy over the dining table in case the weather turns. We come here every year and leave with good memories. The grounds are beautiful, the houses have what we need, and there’s a nice sauna, playground and swings for the children.

The power cut during a severe thunderstorm lasted about five hours. I understand the owners couldn’t control the weather, but emergency lighting didn’t work and there were no flashlights or candles. We had small children with us, and they had to move around in complete darkness. We ended up looking for firewood around the property and lighting the grill ourselves just to get some light outside. The shower, toilet and sauna were all unusable without power. We had to ask for information ourselves, with no proactive support. The house itself was very clean and well maintained, and the location by the water was beautiful and peaceful, so it seemed suited to a relaxing family trip. Still, Villa Marika Plus fell well short of its high rating. The hardest part was dealing with the owner. Our questions got formal replies without empathy or any real offer to help. We felt there was no sense of responsibility from the owners. Leaving guests without light, communication or basic safety measures was unacceptable.

Lake Peipsi is just a short walk away, surrounded by beautiful nature. We rented the house called villa Marika plus, and it was lovely, clean, tidy and comfortable, with everything we needed. If you’d rather not cook, there’s a restaurant in the main house.
