The hostess said the Finnish traveler staying there was a strange man, and that was when I began to notice how rude she seemed. The next morning, I was showering on the first floor when, after about 10 minutes, someone repeatedly banged on the bathroom door and shouted at me. I got scared and irritated and stopped showering. I’d never had anything like that happen before. When I opened the door, the hostess was standing right there, still shouting that the hostel could use only 100 liters of hot water and asking how long I’d been in the shower. I told her she was being rude to a guest and that I’d been in there about 15 minutes. She insisted it had been over 30 minutes because she’d been watching me from outside the door. Nobody had told me about the 100-liter limit. Her behavior felt creepy and disrespectful, and I was left feeling cold. I felt unsafe, so I left. Haapsalu had been a dream destination for years, but this experience ruined it for me. I got depressed, stopped sightseeing, and went back to Tallinn some days earlier than planned. I definitely don’t recommend this hostel. Tamme hostel in Haapsalu is run by the same hostess, just so you know.
