The sauna was such a welcome treat after spending the day exploring the island. We stayed in the yellow house, which is ideally placed for an easy winter walk out to the frozen sea. And the stars at night were incredible, brighter than I’ve ever seen. Maybe we’ll catch the aurora next time!

The scenery around this remote cottage is lovely, and inside it’s cosy and clean. We appreciated the sauna and the big outdoor dining area, plus there were toys indoors for the kids. There isn’t much for them to do outside, though, and Kungla harbour wasn’t an ideal place to swim. The nearest shop is tiny and about 6km away. We were five, and the indoor space felt a bit tight. Although it sleeps up to eight across two bedrooms, the dining table only has four chairs.

A calm, private garden and those big windows make this little house feel wonderful. It has all the amenities, and there’s a marina close by where you can swim or rent a boat.
