Central Hotel

The staff were friendly, the location was good, and breakfast was nice. Wi-Fi was good too, and the beds were soft. There’s a fridge and a small parking area on the hotel grounds. Changing rooms wasn’t a problem. The shower cabin was broken, though :(

The staff were kind and willing to help, and breakfast was okay for the price, though you have to pick what you want the night before :) The hotel is close to the border, a shopping mall, and the PCR test center, but sits on a quiet, leafy side street. The room let the stay down: old furniture, a bedside table that wobbled, and a shockingly dirty bathroom, especially the shower. Kitchen smells spread through the room too. It did the job, but I wouldn’t stay longer than one night.

Breakfast was included and made to order, which was unusual. The place was clean, but the clubs next door made it pretty noisy. There was hardly any parking, so we left the car on the sidewalk in front of the building.

This second time, the hotel refused to refund me after I was turned back at the Russian - Estonian border. I had even booked a partially refundable rate and still got nothing back. I suspect the hotel and Estonian border guard personnel have some kind of deal, though I can’t prove it. My concern is that travelers are told to book a hotel, then stopped at the border for what I see as an idiotic reason, leaving them out of pocket. I’m a US citizen with Russian roots, and the whole situation feels outrageous. It makes me wonder if the town’s hotel business is involved in this nasty scheme. In this, Estonians are no better than Russians!
