Hotell Tammsaare

The hotel was good value for money, with clean rooms in good condition and a good, sufficient breakfast. There’s no air conditioning, so rooms may get warm in summer, and no elevator, with rooms going up to the third floor. Yard parking is limited to about 8-10 spaces, so be prepared to use paid street parking, which costs 25€ for 24 hours. I’ll add photos of the buffet tables!

I visited in June for Jaanipaev and found it a great value budget hotel. It’s very close to the beach and an easy walk to the town centre. There was a small problem with the room when we arrived, but they fixed it quickly. The gluten-free breakfast options were excellent.

We expected a high-tech hotel with self check-in, so the awful parking was a surprise. The entrance and reception area are pretty and cozy, but things go downhill once you reach the room, quite literally in places. Our room was cramped and very small, had no air conditioning, and one wall light by the bed was barely attached and flickering. I was afraid turning it on might start a fire. It might be fine in colder weather, but I wouldn’t want to stay there in summer when it’s 30 degrees outside. The location is very good if you get a room in the actual hotel rather than somewhere random around the city. For us, though, the room felt like a hospital room, so we left without spending the night. At least it’s quite cheap.

The room was good, though one lamp didn’t work. They sorted out my booking problem, which was really nice. But when I arrived with a baby stroller, I was surprised there were only stairs at the hotel entrance. A man helped me carry it inside. My room was on the third floor, and I’d hoped there’d be a lift, but there wasn’t, so I had to carry the baby and my things upstairs. There’s no reception either. If you have an urgent question, you need to email them, and it feels like living in an abandoned building.
