Mercure Tallinn

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, the location was convenient near the airport and close to the Ulemiste mall, and breakfast had plenty of good options. We did notice a sewage smell coming from the bathroom in one of our rooms on the 3rd floor. I reported it to reception and hope they fix it.

Mercure Tallinn is the most comfortable hotel I've stayed in across all the European countries I've visited, hands down. I keep coming back to Tallinn, and this is always my choice. The location is incredibly convenient, a few minutes on foot from the airport, with one of the biggest and liveliest shopping malls just across the street. Food, shops and everything else are steps away. There's a huge, easy-to-access parking area for driving or taking taxis, a lakeside spot nearby and the city center isn't far. The rooms are spotless and well kept, and the facilities are on another level compared with other Mercure hotels in Europe. The reception list and housekeeping staff were genuinely friendly and thoughtful. One lovely young lady even left me a handwritten note wishing me a happy day, which was such a heartwarming touch. Breakfast was the best-prepared hotel breakfast I've ever had. The quality of the bacon and bread alone stood out, far better than at Hilton, Radisson and other places I've stayed.

The shopping mall next door and the airport nearby made my three-day stay very pleasant. Staff were friendly and well presented, and the public areas were immaculate and extremely clean. It's a very nice, convenient Mercure, about a 5 to 10 minute walk from the airport, though a cab can be very expensive for such a short trip. Rooms differ: some have showers over the bath, while others are wet rooms. I had the latter and wasn't keen on it. The shower area was very small; drainage was good and a mop was provided to dry it, but the bathroom was still a bit disappointing for me. The rest of the hotel and the staff more than made up for that, and I'd recommend staying here.

The location is good, close to both shopping and the airport, and free parking is a bonus. Room size was fine, but the junior suite looked really old. The sofa was awful, the coffee table took up too much room, the TV was small, and the fall in the middle of the room made it hard to use the space. The worst part is the noise when it rains. Water hitting the windowsill makes a drumbeat in the room, and you can't sleep. It's time for an update. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
