Villa Kadriorg Hostel

I mainly needed somewhere affordable and somewhat private, within walking distance of both the city centre and the harbour. Other hostels didn't suit me because I can't do shared rooms without curtains, so a private room with a shared bathroom seemed like a decent option. It was about 15 minutes on foot to each, and the photos looked okay, so I booked and hoped for the best. The room was quaint and fine for sleeping and recharging after a day out, but I wouldn't want to spend much time there. It was nothing special. Since it was right beside reception, I didn't feel I had much privacy, and going to the bathroom felt the same way. The receptionist was welcoming, though. The walls were very thin, and my neighbours talked loudly, which made sleep difficult at times. That's not really the hotel's fault, but it was still annoying. The shared showers also weren't very inviting, and the curtains didn't inspire much confidence. It's a good budget choice if you just need somewhere to crash at night. If you want to spend more time in your room or aren't used to cheap hotels, you may want to look elsewhere.

For the price, it's perfect. The place is warm, there's a kitchen with utensils, and you get clean sheets and towels.

The staff were friendly and the location was good, but this was the worst place I've ever stayed. I was here last year, and the other guests were awful. Drug addicts staying there would look around inside unlocked rooms, and staff could easily have refused to let them stay. Men also harassed the women in our group and tried to get into their rooms. The rooms were cramped, too. I was supposed to be in a 'triple', but it was really a double with a sofa thrown in. It was extremely cramped and hot, with no personal space at all. The hot water kept running out as well.

Uhhh, honestly, it wasn't a great experience. A sink in our room would've helped, the mattress was terrible, and some soundproofing wouldn't hurt. So, 4/5, I guess.
