We found dirty sheets left by previous guests when we arrived at Zinc Old Tallinn. When we told the owner, she said there was a "3-day cleaning rule" and that the price we paid was too low to cover proper cleaning. She suggested we should expect poor service because of the rate, and was dismissive and unprofessional when we raised the hygiene issue. In my experience of traveling to 38 countries, I haven't encountered hygiene and service standards like these elsewhere. We also had little privacy. The hostel administrator would sometimes enter our room without knocking. I'm sharing this because both the standards and the way guests are treated need to be taken seriously, so other travelers don't have the same experience.

The pantry was a nice spot to relax after a walk. I could have coffee or tea, warm up some food, and chat with other guests. It was a good place to stay.

Fantastic location, very close to the central square, with plenty of cafes and bars around. Hell-O bar next door was a friendly gay bar playing camp 80s hits. The dorm and bathroom were spotlessly clean, and the kitchen looked clean too, though I didn't use it. All the staff were friendly, but they don't speak English. My Russian is basic, so we sometimes used Google Translate, which worked fine. Communication was poor, though. I left a travel blanket behind and got no reply to either an email or WhatsApp, their preferred ways to contact them. When I passed through Tallinn again, I stopped by and a different receptionist found it straight away.

We were there for two nights, and the rooms and bathrooms were pretty clean. It’s a great base for exploring the old town. The man at reception was friendly, but after our arrival we never saw any staff. There was a club or bar below our room, which made it a little hard to fall asleep. All in all, an alright stay.

Right in the old town. The place also goes by Reval hostel and hostel4you, and the rooms are clean with a well-equipped kitchen. To find it, search for STADI karaoke bar. The entrance is just to the left of the karaoke bar door, with a sign on the door and a buzzer on the wall.
