Kato Dool Wellness Resort

Saad was the real highlight of our stay. He was there day or night, ready to help, and somehow made things happen before we even asked. We wanted to go to a Nubian party, and within a few hours he had arranged one at the resort for the following night. At 8pm we asked about a flying dress photo shoot at sunrise, and within an hour he had booked the photographer and dresses for 5am the next day. He also arranged a private boat and lunch on a private island with no hassle. It was much easier dealing with him than with people outside who kept trying to overcharge us. I was shocked to learn he wasn't the owner. I hope to stay there again just to see Saad. Hotels would make guests much happier if they all had someone like him. We came as a family from Australia and chose the place after seeing its lovely photos online before our Egypt trip. We stayed in January 2026, and it's hard to do it justice in words. The views are priceless, the rooms charming, and the colors and details everywhere make it feel otherworldly. The rooms and amenities were clean, and staff were friendly and polite.

The view is beautiful, and the hotel is a really cool, unique place with good food. Staff are very nice, but service can be slow. Wi-Fi only works in the dining area. Getting up and down the mountain takes a while, and the drive isn't for nervous travelers or anyone who likes to come and go from the hotel often.

It's a gorgeous hotel with a stunning view, but think about access before booking. Getting there is complicated and confusing, even for locals, so it works better as a retreat than as a base for going out and returning often. Local taxis don't seem to know where it is, so contact the hotel before arriving in Aswan. Don't make your first arrival at night. The drive on unmarked roads was pretty scary, and I wish the hotel had offered a shuttle before we had to contact them ourselves after failing to find a cab driver who knew the way. Wi-Fi is limited to the dining room, so you can't work privately online from your room. Breakfast is also very expensive for Egypt. The colorful Nubian decor is lovely, and you can see the attention to detail throughout the property.

We enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. It's a new Nubian hotel, one of the cleanest and most cheerful places I've stayed in around Nubia, with an amazing view. I've had better Nubian food, but the food here was still OK.
