The rooftop breakfast area has two levels, lounge chairs for sunbathing, dunes on one side, and a partial view of the cruise embankment on the other. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night, which we regretted; Mango Guesthouse and Aswan deserve at least three, especially with Paris freezing at the moment. Mohamed met us at the Elephantine Island ferry station, and it was just a short walk to the guesthouse. Past the gate, the place feels enchanting, with lots of greenery and lovely Nubian-style décor. Our spacious double room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and it had a balcony. Winter jasmine was in full bloom, which made it extra special. There were plenty of power sockets and three USB ports, very handy for charging. One round window has no shutter, so bring an eye mask if you want complete darkness. Highly recommended.

Staying on the island was such a good choice for us. It felt laid back and not like a tourist trap, and we preferred it to the mainland. The nearby restaurants were delicious, and the ferry is cheap, runs all the time, and takes just 3 minutes. We never waited more than a few minutes, and the landing is in a very central spot on the mainland. At Mango Guesthouse, our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and the WiFi worked well enough. We were really happy here and highly recommend it.

A cozy, quiet place away from the rest of the city, with large rooms. The staff were very friendly and helped us arrange our Abu Simbel trip, luggage, and transport. We had a great stay and highly recommend it.

Mornings on this quiet island were lovely, having breakfast on the terrace and hearing roosters and a nearby donkey. There are some wonderful meal options, too. The people running Mango guesthouse were hospitable and made us feel welcome and safe during our 2-night stay. I’d suggest arranging a transfer through them when you arrive. Someone will meet you at the ferry and walk you to the guesthouse. After you’ve made the trip once, it’s easy to find your way back and forth. Bring Egyptian pounds for the ferry ride to the island and for the return trip as well.

This has been my favorite guesthouse in Egypt so far, better than a hotel. The host is super helpful and nice. It’s clean, spacious, and well maintained. Definitely recommend it.
