JAZ Dahabeya

The leisure activities were made even better by the Magic World entertainers. Shika ran the dart game today, and he was enthusiastic, sweet, kind, and encouraging. He’s just the person you want to enjoy all those activities with. The staff are lovely, the rooms are gorgeous and have beautiful views, and bishandi the cat is a real charmer. Thanks to everyone for such an amazing stay :)

There’s a lovely atmosphere at night, and it gets quiet after 10 pm. The hotel is compact and cozy, with a sandy beach right out front. There are diving and windsurfing centres on site, and activity prices seem about the same as elsewhere in Dahab. The staff are nice and mostly considerate, and the food is really tasty with enough variety. A good place with good service, by Egyptian standards.

The view and location are stunning, easily a 10/10, and the staff were generally polite and friendly. But the rest of the experience didn’t live up to what I expected, especially compared with other Jaz hotels. The property seemed understaffed and chaotic around meals, with everyone rushing and it often being hard to find anyone to order coffee or tea. The service felt hurried too. The buffet layout was confusing, with soup in the middle and plates elsewhere. Tea and coffee spoons were beside only one machine, and the machines were available at breakfast but not dinner, for no clear reason. I also saw cutlery dropped under tables. There was plenty of food to choose from, but the quality was poor for a hotel at this price. The ingredients seemed cheap, white sauces had hardly any milk or cream, and some dishes seemed to be reused over several days. I expected much more. The place felt mismanaged and fell short of the standard I had in mind.

It seems like a decent place to stay, and at this time of year it isn’t very busy. The staff are friendly and nice. Special thanks to Mr. Mojed, who was warm and professional. It was a pleasant surprise that he knew a few phrases in Lithuanian! His English was also a relief, and I enjoyed learning more about Egypt and its culture. Thanks!
