Hotelux La Playa Alamein

The beach is right there, the pool is decent, and the rooms were clean, though the bathroom needs renovating. Check-in was quick and breakfast was okay. Weekday evenings are quiet with nothing to do, while weekends have the Freya pool party. There are very few places to eat or have lunch on site, but you can order from nearby restaurants. It doesn’t feel worth the price, although that seems normal for the North Coast, where almost everything is overpriced.

The sea-side setting is beautiful, but I left disappointed and can’t recommend the hotel as it is now. The building and facilities need urgent renovation, and the amenities didn’t do much for my comfort. Hygiene was a major concern, especially the pool, which was unacceptably dirty. The breakfast buffet was also disappointing: cleanliness standards weren’t maintained, and I didn’t enjoy the food.

The hotel staff were professional, friendly and helpful all the way from our arrival to the beachfront. Breakfast had a very good range, with something for everyone, and the beach was clean, with white sand and turquoise water, though there was a little seaweed. Some upkeep would help: I noticed weeds, uneven walkways, landscaping problems and stains around the hotel and outdoor areas. Even so, it’s a nice place for a family, and I’d return if I get the chance.

We liked the atmosphere, and the staff were friendly. Room service was very good, and breakfast was great. The beach not being cleaned regularly annoyed us, though, and there wasn’t much food variety. There are plenty of restaurants in the city, so that worked out.
