I was told my reservation had been rejected because of “an issue with the previous guest,” after I had followed the unusual requests made during booking. That explanation felt vague and insincere, especially in light of what I'd already been asked to do. It gave me the strong impression the screening process, rather than an outside issue, was behind the rejection. Before that, I was asked to provide personal social media profiles before the booking could be accepted. This felt intrusive and unnecessary, and raised serious privacy concerns. It gave the impression guests might be judged by their appearance, lifestyle, or background, which is not what I'd expect from a reputable destination. I was also asked to sign a document banning Burkini swimsuits and limiting guests to specific swimwear. I see this as direct discrimination against hijabi women, preventing us from wearing modest swimwear that reflects our religious and personal beliefs. It's exclusionary and against basic equality, respect, and freedom of choice. The whole experience was deeply disappointing and disrespectful. Banning hijabi women in this way, alongside intrusive social profiling, makes the place feel unwelcoming and far from inclusive.
