Sphinx Palace Guest House

We’d stayed here several times and loved it at first, but our most recent visit was a very bad experience. The location is hidden and hard for even a taxi to find. The street gets very busy and loud in the morning, and the camel smell is strong. The rooms weren’t clean enough, and even the toilets were missing brushes. My friend was overcharged, and both of us were insulted as women. If you’re overcharged and insulted like we were, report it to the tourism police. Be careful when booking this guesthouse. We won’t return.

This is my second stay at Sheriff's place. He’s a great host who takes care of what you need, from food orders to helping arrange someone to buy local goods at local prices if you want. The rooftop is an amazing spot for quiet time in the morning or evening, with the best pyramid view I’ve seen in the area. The WiFi works well, there’s hot water, and the shared kitchen lets you warm food or even cook.

The owner has just done a small renovation and is a really kind, helpful person who can answer questions or help with problems. You can use all the kitchen facilities and cook for yourself, which makes this a great place for backpackers. It’s in a perfect location, the price is very fair, and you get a great view of the pyramids for what you pay. Highly recommend!

Sherif is such a thoughtful host, always going out of his way to make you comfortable and happy. The rooms are clean and really nice, and the rooftop gives you an incredible view of the pyramids. It’s a gem in a brilliant location. I had an incredible experience and can only recommend it. If I’m back in Gizeh, I know where I’ll stay!
