The terrace and its view were the best part of our stay. The place itself doesn’t look especially old or damaged, and it’s on the 12th floor with an elevator. Still, finding the entrance was difficult. We had to ask our driver to call the hotel for directions. They offer an airport transfer for 30 USD, which is more than three times the Uber or Careem price of 8 USD. The room was basic, with old, rather smelly furniture. The mattresses had plastic covers beneath the sheets, there were no closet hangers, and the TV didn’t work because its antenna cable was broken. The mini fridge and kettle were the only equipment, and both worked fine. The bathroom was extremely small. The shower is right over the toilet, so water gets everywhere, including the door and part of the room floor. We slept poorly because of noise from reception. The night shift guy talked or argued loudly on his phone every night, whether it was 11 pm or 3 am. Breakfast was a very simple omelette made with one egg, a slice of cold meat, a small piece of cheese, jam, honey, bread, and tea or coffee. Before arrival I was told it ran from 8 to 10, but then learned it was actually 9 to 11. Booking charges 20 USD for dinner. Don’t go for it. It’s takeaway worth about 3 or 4 bucks, delivered in a plastic bag with a plastic spoon. No plates, cutlery, drinks, or even a glass of water.

The one good thing was the terrace looking out over the pyramids. We arrived late at night and were frightened by the last few streets: a dirt road, wrecked cars, and stray dogs. The rooms are new but very badly managed. The mattresses, covered in plastic, were so hard they felt like sleeping on the floor. The bathroom smelled and leaked, with the shower directly above the toilet. Our room had no towels or wastebasket. We had a terrace room on the 13th floor, reached by a very steep, dangerous staircase. The carpets by the hotel entrance were dirty and stank. Breakfast was outside in the cold, with hardly anything edible besides an omelette and bread. A terrible experience.

We booked three rooms, and had the same awful experience in each. The staff couldn’t communicate in English, and there was no indoor place to eat, so breakfast was outside even in December. We didn’t eat the dinner. The rooms were filthy, with broken window glass and plastic under the bedsheets. The bathroom was unusable: shower over the toilet, an oversized faucet that sent water everywhere, and visible dirt and urine marks. Getting there meant taking dirt roads past stray dogs, and the building was run-down. The rooms on the 13th floor could only be reached by narrow, steep stairs. Hygiene and cleanliness were practically nonexistent. Absolutely unacceptable.

What stood out most to me was how warmly we were treated. The two people at reception were incredibly polite. Ms. Farah was gracious and helped us with everything, and Mr. Ahmed was just as kind and generous with his help. Their hospitality made me want to extend our stay. My family and I had the large room, with a king-size bed and two single beds. It was clean and tidy, and the rooms were very good overall, thank God. Breakfast was included. I’d put the hotel around 3 to 4 stars. Some foreign guests may have rated it poorly because the entrance is a bit difficult, but otherwise things were excellent. I highly recommend it, and thank Ms. Farah and Mr. Ahmed again. God willing, we’ll visit again because of them 🤍🤍

The view and location were the good points. There’s a large supermarket and lots of local restaurants nearby. The price is low too, but I would have given one star for how we were treated at reception if the view weren’t so great. The owner didn’t answer messages on WhatsApp or Booking. The only message was an offer of an airport transfer for $20. The accommodation is on the 12th floor of a panel building, and we might not have found it without having read reviews and getting lucky with a local who advised us. The entrance door needs a chip or code, but no one gave us either ahead of time. When we called the owner, no one picked up. A local helped us reach reception. The boy there seemed annoyed we were around, didn’t speak English, and was doing nothing while saying he was very busy. We only wanted to leave our things before check-in and get the entry code or a phone number so we could get back in. He refused to give us either, and said we could get the keys only if we paid $4 or came in the afternoon. He didn’t seem to care that we’d reached the desk without a chip or code. The room was small, the air conditioning couldn’t heat it in winter, and the bed mattresses were still wrapped in plastic, so every turn woke us up. The shower is above the toilet, so you can sit on it and shower at the same time. Breakfast starts at 9 am, so there’s no luck if you need it earlier, though the serving was enough.
