Al Baeirat hotel

The West Bank hotel felt like a little sanctuary, with plenty of visiting sites within easy reach and a free boat across to the East Bank. My favorite spot was the seating area outside the room in the morning, with birdsong all around. Rafat, the hotel manager, was ready to help as soon as I arrived, whether it was booking a sunrise hot air balloon experience, arranging excursions to different sites, or giving me a lift to a local masseuse or the shop. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were friendly, attentive, and courteous. I couldn't have asked for a better last few days in Egypt before flying home, 10/10.

A fun place, with a backpacker kind of feel even though it isn't really a backpacker spot. There's a pool, plus pool and table tennis that you can use for free. The food was good, especially the pepper steak, and they even had cold beer. A bottle of Stella was 100EGP. The rooms were amazing in a completely different way. Stand right in the middle and you can hear your voice echo up through the roof. They were very helpful getting us there from the airport and arranging a taxi to the river, then a boat across. The boat is free and will take you to the East Bank temples whenever you want.

It was so peaceful here. We woke to birds tweeting instead of car horns, and the kids loved playing table tennis and pool and looking for little lizards in the garden. The restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced, some of the best we ate in Egypt. Staff were helpful and accommodating, arranging water taxi transfers to the East Bank at seemingly all hours. That made getting to tours easy. I suspect some of the poor reviews may have been about tour operators rather than the hotel.

A lovely little hotel with beautiful Nile views and a relaxing, peaceful feel. The pool area is lovely and well kept, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
