Blue Sky Apartments

I had a delicious beef tagine at this friendly local spot. The staff were welcoming, the Egyptian food was tasty, and the shisha was the best in the city. A good pick if you want a feel for the local atmosphere.

There’s a lovely atmosphere above street level, with colourful murals on the walls. From the rooftop restaurant you can look over the Nile and Luxor Temple across the river, with plenty of feluccas passing by. It’s only a five-minute walk from the public ferry crossing. Highly recommended.

I’ve given Blue Sky several chances, but the service still isn’t consistent. This time I waited 25 to 30 minutes, and the waiter forgot both my salad and bottled water. The veggie pizza was dry because it barely had any sauce. At least the grilled fish and pomegranate soda were as delicious as I remembered from my first two visits. Still, after this happening more than once, I won’t be back. Metro or Fish House across the water are more reliable for both food and service.

The best part was the time we all spent together. The family who own Blue Sky made us feel so welcome that we returned every day, and they also arranged a delicious, amazing sunset dinner for us on a felouk.
