Bob Marley House Sherief Hotel Luxor

We spent three nights at Bob Marley, and it’s a great base if you want to book tours around Luxor. Ashraf and the team share all the information you need and arrange excursions at good value, much cheaper than what you’ll find on the Internet. If you’re after an adventure, this is the place.

The location is handy, close to Luxor Temple, the Nile, and places to eat, but away from the middle of the chaos. The staff were mostly lovely and helpful. Alladin’s day tour was good value and great, and Aly, who works on the breakfast rooftop, was the light of the place. I met some good people during my stay, too. But I wouldn’t stay here again. The rooms were incredibly worn and dirty, with no care over the years. I knew it was cheap and didn’t expect luxury, but the dorm was like a barracks, with beds right beside each other. I moved to a private room, which was still grim. I can’t say how awful the mattresses were. Was it a murder scene? I honestly don’t know. One more thing: don’t give Ashraf your number. He’ll keep calling and trying to persuade you to do or buy things.

Nearly 20 years later, coming back to this blessed place felt like coming home, with the same comfort and family feeling. Mr. Hassan served us the most delicious food on the rooftop and showed us Luxor’s hidden roads. I hope I get to return a third time. 🙏♥️🔥

Ashraf and his staff were so friendly and helpful. At first I was a little wary because Ashraf came on very strong, but I realized his offers were genuine and caring. He even let me work and shower for free during a stopover on my way back, and connected me with someone heading to Aswan. He also offered a free ride to the bus or Museum, and really meant it. Travelers often find out later that rides like these aren’t free, but he tries to protect guests from scams, which seemed more common in Luxor than elsewhere. The hostel is low budget, so don’t expect the comfiest dorm beds, though the other beds were fine. I can recommend staying here, knowing he’ll take good care of you. Thanks again!
