Grand Memphis Hotel Luxor

The hotel’s rates felt good for its location and service. Our room was clean and nice, with new, comfortable mattresses and very good new air conditioning. The breakfast on the restaurant veranda was special, and the team was wonderful, especially reception, housekeeping, and the restaurant staff. Thank you to the Grand Memphis Hotel management and staff.

We had to leave and find somewhere decent to stay. This place was disgusting, dirty, and terribly equipped. It shouldn’t be allowed to operate. I strongly recommend avoiding it. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

We paid 600 EGP for a one-night double room after booking and staying here on June 4, 2025. What we found was a room unfit for guests and serious neglect throughout the hotel. There was no hot water during our stay, and the air conditioner was completely broken despite the heat, with no alternative or prompt repair. The old, worn mattress on a dilapidated iron bed left us with back pain and trouble sleeping. Insects and geckos were widespread in the room and around the hotel. The elevator failed while being used, leaving one of us trapped for half an hour without management responding promptly, which put us at both physical and psychological risk. The restaurant was dusty, not air-conditioned, and extremely unclean. The kitchen smelled foul and had dirty utensils. We paid an extra 100 EGP to receptionist Ms. Hagar for breakfast, but the meal was unacceptable: reheated stale bread, cold foul beans containing insects, and a boiled egg that was raw inside and not fit to eat. When we complained, Ms. Hagar was disrespectful, uncooperative, and refused to apologize. She also lacked English skills, making things worse for guests who don’t speak Arabic. This showed gross negligence, no proper supervision or quality control, and disregard for guests’ health and dignity. The service standards were unacceptable.

I liked the vibe and the place itself was nice, with a location close to everything. The staff were really great and helpful, especially Nada and Peter. But on the third day, I asked housekeeping to clean the room and nobody came. Breakfast was included in my bill, yet it wasn’t offered for the first two days of my four-night stay.
