Windsor Hotel Luxor

For the price, the rooms are good and the beds are comfortable, so I slept well. The staff are some of the friendliest I've ever come across at a hotel. I only had breakfast, not a full meal at the restaurant, and it was very good. The taste and portions kept me full until 7 PM. There's no WiFi, and the TV options aren't enough to keep you entertained, but bear in mind what you're paying. The price makes this a perfect choice.

It's good value for the money. The rooms were clean, and breakfast and room service were good. This is an old building close to the Nile and tourist spots, and a nice place to stay with family. For hot water, though, you'll need to leave the tap running for more than 10 minutes.

Ayman, the hotel manager, arranged a private car to Aswan for us on checkout day, with stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo temples. The full day cost $90, which seemed fair for the long drive and visits. He was very helpful and made sure everything was arranged. Since we were leaving at 5 AM and would miss breakfast, the hotel also prepared a packed breakfast for each of us. That thoughtful gesture left a good impression. The location is excellent for sightseeing. The Nile is a short walk away, where you can take a ferry to the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, and the Temple of Hatshepsut. The hotel is also close to the Avenue of the Sphinxes, linking Karnak Temple with Luxor Temple. Service was a real strength. Staff were well trained and welcoming, and on arrival we were offered a sweet, non-alcoholic welcome drink. We could choose between two available rooms, which was a nice touch. The website let us book a three-single-bed room, though it was listed for two people. We booked for two and paid an extra 400 EGP in cash for the third guest, since breakfast was included for only two. Breakfast was great, with tomatoes, peppers, Egyptian pita bread, two kinds of cream cheese, jam, and a drink of our choice. Cleanliness was less impressive: a friend found clipped nails on his bed and asked for the sheets to be changed. Because of a miscommunication, staff replaced the whole bed instead. That wasn't needed, but we appreciated the effort. Windsor Hotel Luxor has wonderful hospitality and a great location, but cleanliness needs attention. I'd stay again, though I'd check the room first.

The rooms are average, but good enough for a peaceful night's sleep when you're only there to rest during a trip. The hotel's biggest advantage is its location: it's very economical and gives you easy walking access to the whole east side. The staff and manager were very cooperative.
