The massage therapy was a real bonus. I had a scrub and massage for 50EUR, and the therapist was excellent. After a busy day out, the rooftop pool, restaurant, and bar are a great place to unwind and watch the Egyptian sunset. Emilio is centrally located, with easy access to most places around Luxor. The local food is very good, with some Western options too. I especially loved the fresh breakfast juice for 75 EGP after having diluted cordials at all the other places we stayed. Rooms are basic but comfortable, and the staff are helpful and friendly without hovering.

Stay away from this hotel. The staff were refilling shower gel bottles with product taken from bins in other rooms, which I saw with my own eyes. The food was cold and tasted really bad, with very few choices, even though we were the first ones in the restaurant at 5am. The room was very outdated, the toilets weren’t great, and the water pressure was poor, sometimes old, sometimes hot. The price isn’t high, but it isn’t that cheap either.

We enjoyed our stay here with Intrepid. Younan and his team were really helpful, and service was friendly and attentive. The simple rooms were tidy and very clean. We liked the rooftop pool, drinks, and food, with cocktails and wine available. It’s close to the bazaar and a short walk from the temple, with some good restaurants nearby. The street can be noisy, though it wasn’t really a problem, and the temple view was great. Breakfast was good too, with lots of choices from Egyptian dishes to freshly made omelettes. A little more fruit would be nice.

The rooms are fine for a short stay near the temple, and the staff were friendly. They helped us sort out a booking problem at another hotel, and the chefs were friendly too. Still, I ended up hating the hotel because of the housekeeping staff. From 9 am to 11 AM they were loud, talking and shouting to each other, so we couldn’t sleep. Smoke smell also came through the AC and lingered in our room, so we turned it off and kept it off. One small thing, all the lighting is white, with no warm lights, and it was harsh and annoying.

We were stuck here for four nights as part of our tour itinerary, and there were problems everywhere. The hotel feels dated and uncomfortable, the WiFi doesn’t work, and service is extremely slow. Staff repeatedly got our food and drink orders wrong, then made bill changes difficult. Most staff were unhelpful and unfriendly, though one nice gentleman who looks like Fred Vasseur and a kind housekeeper were exceptions. The front desk did very little to address our concerns or apologize. The rooms had multiple shower problems, including no hot water, weak pressure, and awkward positioning. There was only one working plug, between our heads, because the hotel used two singles shoved together instead of queen beds. The sheets were too small to stay around the beds and came loose at night. In the hallways, lights were sometimes off, housekeeping gear was left lying around, and pita breads were among the clean towels and sheets. The elevator was also a nightmare, limited to three people, with confusing buttons, and it always dropped about 20 cm as it stopped, making you think you were about to plummet. The hotel is shoddy, the staff are unhelpful, and you can find better value elsewhere.
