I've been to La Commune four times, and I keep coming back. It feels cozy and homey, and the staff and owners are so welcoming and helpful. They took care of everything we needed with a smile. One of the founders is a woman who works to make the place feel comfortable and safe for women, especially solo female travelers. The huts have an authentic Sinai feel with a few comforts: mosquito nets, soft pillows, clean sheets, and locks. Food is always tasty, with lots of vegan and vegetarian choices, and the shared bathrooms are cleaned regularly. Some bungalows also have private bathrooms and AC. The beach is a little rocky, but there's a nice reef for snorkeling.

The only decent part was the rooms, which were somewhat clean and had no insects. They weren't even La Commune's rooms, though. Since the camp was full, we were put in rooms at the neighboring camp, despite calling ahead. Everything else was a mess. The beach was covered in huge rocks, even though we'd called to ask about sand and were told it wasn't that bad. We had to walk seven minutes to find a place to swim. They quoted room prices without clearly explaining that taxes were extra. The house rules mentioned taxes, but didn't say whether that applied to food or rooms, and we ended up paying much more than expected. Drinks and water cost almost twice as much, and we weren't allowed to bring our own things even though it's a camp. The bathrooms were disgusting, despite being described as cleaned a few times a day. Pipes left in direct sun made the water boiling hot. Food came cold in tiny portions and seemed rushed. They served white sauce fettuccine made with spaghetti. A famous rapper played loud music past midnight, and it was unbearable. This place felt chaotic, and I can't recommend it.

My favorite place in Sinai. The rooms are comfortable, I love the look of the place, and the staff are really friendly and accommodating.

The water in the showers and toilets gets boiling hot because the pipes are exposed to direct sunlight, so even washing your hands or taking a shower is difficult. Two guests had dogs that barked constantly, and the staff didn't seem bothered or say anything. Everything is overpriced, and when we checked out they gave us the wrong amount. We had to go back through our messages with them to get the rate we'd been quoted before arriving. You'd need Google Maps to find the camp from the road, and the entrance road isn't suitable for cars.
