Hotel Vila da Guarda

The breakfast was fine, though I would have liked more protein choices. We were about a 5-7 minute walk from the harbor front. Our suite at hotel Vila da Guarda in Guarda Spain was excellent: a modern studio on the 3rd, top floor, with a balcony, kitchenette, queen bed, and a large modern bathroom.

The breakfast was acceptable and there is a parking lot. It's a clean, nice hotel and not expensive. Recommended, but be careful, the bathtub is very slippery.

Reception handled things efficiently, and the location is central, close to restaurants. The self-service breakfast was good, and being on the Camino route made it a handy stop for one night. My room was quiet, although other guests mentioned noise from traffic and other people staying there. It was spacious and modern, with a modern bathroom. There was no air conditioning, but that wasn't an issue, as it was cool while we were there.

Breakfast felt a bit odd. A staff member watched over the espresso machine, making sure no one got a decent coffee. They only had café americano, and I suppose he was also there to see that nobody took more than their daily breakfast ration. At check-in the staff spoke Spanish and some Portuguese, but no English. The hotel is near the town centre, and the room was a nice size with an extra fold-out bed for children. It was reasonably quiet, though there was no view. For a two star superior hotel, this was one of my most expensive nights, so it didn't feel like good value. Next time I think I'll look for somewhere better value.
