Hotel Maruxa

It was quiet, clean, and just a short walk from La Lanzada beach, less than 5 meters away. We had a double room with a decent-sized bathroom. The bathroom does look dated and needs updating, including replacement shower curtains. For the price, though, it was fine. Parking fits only four or five cars, but there’s plenty of street parking.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the service was excellent. The hotel is very good value and sits in an unbeatable spot in the heart of the Rías Baixas region, close to La Lanzada beach. There are only a few electrical outlets, and sound carries easily from neighboring rooms. There’s no air conditioning, though we didn’t need it.

It’s clean and fine for the price, though nothing fancy. The cafeteria was disappointing, with service that wasn’t great. The beach is conveniently about five minutes away. There are stairs and no elevator, so carrying a stroller up would be a problem if you’re traveling with a baby.

The location is the one good thing here. Whether that makes the stay worthwhile is up to you. The room had no ventilation, and moisture kept condensing. The hand gel was a bottle literally topped up with water, which felt like a joke. The bathroom was pretty shabby, the air conditioner was noisy, and the pillows were ultra-thin. Checkout is at 12, yet at 10 a.m. someone hammered on the door to check whether we were there and nearly opened it.
