Casa Rural La Barquilla

A charming, clean village, and the place has all the good, beautiful and affordable things you could want. It works well for couples or families with kids. The lovely wooden cabin has a fireplace for winter, and air conditioning for summer. We’ll be back!

We spent the weekend at La Barquilla country house, a charming place right in the heart of Acebo. It’s a beautifully restored traditional old house with modern comforts, including a fireplace for cozy evenings. The natural beauty of the Sierra de Gata mountains surrounds it. The owners are a friendly couple who were always attentive to what we needed. Don’t miss it!

Right in the center of Acebo, this was a spectacular stay and very good value for money. The spacious, lovely bathroom and comfortable house stood out, along with the owners’ friendly service. The price included the Sierra de Gata Tourism app, and they offered us bikes to explore the swimming spots. They’re a lovely family, and they also own Casa Rural El Pilar in the same village, a beautiful place with several cottages, large grounds full of different trees and even a dog park. They offered us free access to that as well. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back!

A dreadful place and wildly overpriced. For a €75 rental, it didn’t even have the most basic tableware. You pay for the whole house, but are stuck with the room you don’t use and get no reduction. There’s just one bathroom, with the toilet crammed in, Ortega Lara style. The air conditioning filters were filthy and looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in ages. There’s a loose dog that barks and bites. Think twice before going. They charge VAT, as is standard practice, and were reluctant to leave the premises when asked. You’ve been warned. I THINK THAT'S CLEAR: “EXCUSATIO NON PETITA, ACUSACIÓN MANIFIESTA” is a medieval Latin phrase meaning that an unasked-for excuse is an obvious accusation. In other words, apologizing for something without being asked is like pointing the finger at yourself. Everything they do just reinforces what I’m describing.
