Casa Rural Los Robles

The kids were happy everywhere, whether they were playing games, seeing the animals, or going for walks. We came for the second time and were just as pleased. The garden is lovely, the summer pool is a real treat, and the bedrooms and living spaces feel so cozy. It really feels like home!

We were made to feel very welcome, and we’d definitely return. The house was warm even in winter, with a lovely fireplace and a tasty barbecue. It’s a peaceful, beautiful spot that’s clearly looked after, with horses, donkeys, cats, dogs, and plenty of other animals around. We spent the weekend in this well-equipped country house, which had lots of room for families or friends.

The setting is lush and lovely, but I found the stay disappointing because of the privacy issues, animals, and upkeep. The guest house is attached to the property where the owners or managers live, only a few metres away. Shared spaces like the barbecue, garden, and pool are open across the property, so people outside our group could be around while we ate on the garden or porch. At times we felt we had to close the curtains to avoid being watched. This setup wasn’t clearly explained on the booking platform. The dogs roam freely because there’s no internal fence between the rental and the rest of the property. One is a large mastiff, and they can get onto the porch and barbecue area and up to the room doors. In the mornings we had to clear huge droppings left by the big dog just metres from where we ate. The owner mentioned the dogs when we arrived and seemed to negotiate hours when they could roam, but when we asked for them to be kept on a leash during a barbecue, she reacted angrily and ignored us. The facilities also fell short of the accommodation’s supposed standard. There was dampness, dirt in corners, and a lack of care in several places. The beds were very uncomfortable, with springs sticking out enough to make the surfaces uneven during the night. The old-looking, poorly maintained refrigerators made a loud noise all night that carried into the rooms. We also had to clean some utensils and kitchen areas ourselves because of grease and food scraps. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, cleanliness, and a peaceful rural break.

The surroundings are beautiful, which makes it a shame that I can’t recommend the place. The house was only just passable, and the dogs were loose despite our discussion about when they could roam. The owner let them out whenever she wanted, and they left droppings all over the area where we were. Her treatment of guests was shameful, especially with her living right next door. Don’t even try having a drink in front of her, she’ll call you drunks.
