Playa Real Resort

The staff were incredibly friendly and professional, and our five-year-old had a brilliant time making friends in the play area. This is a great family hotel. We stayed in the apartment area; the rooms are a bit dated and could use renovation, but housekeeping kept them very clean. There was plenty of food variety for everyone. Some dishes were a little cold at times, but fresh fish or meat was always cooked to order, which was excellent. We also really liked the drinks and beer. The only real issue was that the bed linens sometimes had stains, so more attention to those would make a big difference. Overall, the friendly atmosphere made for a lovely holiday.

The events and activities felt really inclusive, and the staff were lovely. On our last full day, we had trouble getting a taxi to an early boat trip. Eleanor, a very kind receptionist, called the boat company and got us onto a different boat, so we didn't waste money or miss out. She was incredibly understanding about a situation that wasn't our fault. A big thank you to her. I'd highly recommend this hotel, especially for families. :)

We have never had a worse holiday. The staff were incredibly rude and uninterested, with no greetings, smiles or help. Reception had long queues of people desperately trying to change rooms, but to what? All the rooms are the same mess. This place is dirty, outdated and uncomfortable, nowhere near what you'd expect in Tenerife. If you have children, run. We absolutely do not recommend it. Avoid it at all costs. Our apartment kitchen and everything in it was old, worn out and poorly maintained. The air conditioning didn't work at all, the bathroom had a horrible sewage smell that made it almost impossible to stay inside, and there was mould everywhere. Disgusting. The food was a complete disaster: basic, tasteless and low quality. It all looked cheap and rushed, with frozen pizza, dry food and nothing fresh or enjoyable. We even got stomach problems, and heard the same from many other guests. This was supposedly a 4-star hotel, but honestly it barely deserves 2 stars, and that's being generous.

We were worried about the food after reading reviews before we arrived, but there's nothing to worry about. The selection may be less varied than at expensive hotels, but everything I tried was tasty. The big pool is heated, which I love. I'd say the place is above average. I'm not sure what the apartments are like.
