The evening receptionist was fantastic, helpful with taxis and printing. Bathrooms and common areas were clean, the common areas bright and airy, and the sheets and included towels were clean. The heaters worked, though you couldn't turn them off, and the refrigerator and freezer worked well. There was no laundry, and the kitchen couldn't be used because it was being used for storage. I was charged €40/night for a "fully booked weekend night" when there was only one person on the floor. Two stars for the front desk's blatant dishonesty and rudeness while lying.

The location is awesome, with the metro and bus station nearby and big shops within walking distance. I've stayed several times and the staff have been really generous. They offer free luggage storage for as long as you want, and were kind enough to let me check out an extra hour late. A great hostel for the money.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and there’s good space in a good location. But the rooms smelled of cigarette smoke. For the price, you can get great air bnbs instead. I booked very last minute, though, and would stay again if I were in dire need, as long as I could specify a room that doesn't smell of smoke.

Nice staff and comfortable rooms, with a cool little lounge to hang out in. There’s a Subway really close by, and it was only a 15 minute ride to puerta del sol, which was handy.

In the very safe, quiet, upscale Salamanca area in Madrid, this was good value for the price. There are few options in the neighborhood at this price range. The only thing I’d complain about is the weak Wi-Fi signal.
