Hostal New go Inn

The best thing about this hotel, and my favourite part, was the location. It's right in the city centre, so you can walk to everything. The rooms are small and simple, and nothing special overall. Mine was at ground level at the back of the street, which kept it quiet. They'd clean your room every day if you wanted, and the staff were very polite and suggested places to see in Madrid.

Julia at reception was very helpful, and they were willing to store my luggage. The location is really central, and I appreciated the good pillow and mattress, the hot shower, the kettle and fridge, and the two extension leads in the room. A hairdryer was available on request, with a microwave in the corridor. My single room was on the ground floor, with a small side window facing the street. There was no heating or air conditioning down there, nowhere to hang a towel, and you could hear everything in the house. Running the kettle and electric heater at the same time made the lights go out. It looks and feels like a cheap hotel, but at least you get a private room.

For €56 a night for two, we got a clean private room with its own bathroom and a fridge. There was no AC, but the fan helped, even though July was pretty hot. The main sights were an easy walk away, and the stay was convenient and inexpensive.

The location worked well for walking to the main sights, and the price was reasonable for Madrid. Cleanliness was fine. But I regretted booking this place. The room was tiny and felt suffocating, and there was no sound insulation, so we heard everything from next door. I couldn't sleep on the bed at all. It was painfully uncomfortable, and even a slight movement made it creak loudly. The pillows were just as bad and left my neck stiff. The bathroom had no ventilation, so steam from a hot shower just stayed there. Even the power outlets were awkwardly placed. We were on the ground floor, so I can't speak to the other floors.
