The staff were incredibly helpful and polite, and the evening live music and beautiful views made it hard to find fault. We were usually further down the island, where there’s more right nearby in terms of shops, restaurants, and bars, so this location wasn’t as convenient for that. But it wasn’t a negative for us, what the hotel itself offers made up for it. Everything felt grand, modern, relaxing, and beautiful, especially the balanced decor and lovely facilities like the pools. Breakfast had plenty of good-quality options. It was beyond what we expected, particularly for the price.

The piano bar after dinner was a highlight, and we really enjoyed having a last drink there. The first impression was good too: reception was clean and pleasant, if slightly dated. We were upgraded to a lovely Junior Suite in the Privilege section, and the room itself was very nice. I think a bed is a bed, though my wife might disagree. Later, I did wonder whether the upgrade was masking some of the hotel’s shortcomings. We had three rooms as a group. We got the upgrade, but the others didn’t, and one room in particular looked very dated. None of the website photos showed that decor, which felt misleading. When we brought up some concerns, customer services were surprisingly defensive. My brother-in-law was told he was wrong about the photos, and the conversation became needlessly argumentative. A small goodwill gesture, even something toward the bar tab, could have settled it amicably; the defensive response left a sour taste. We chose half board because we couldn’t justify another £90 a night for drinks. But a 500ml bottle of water cost €2.80 and a gin and tonic €11.90, so they make their margin elsewhere. At those prices I expect everything to work and be properly maintained. I know it isn’t sold as a 5-star hotel, but it charges 5-star prices in many ways. There were several maintenance problems: three of the four pool tables didn’t work; tiles and slabs were broken around the pool, with missing pool tiles left on the floor; what looked like a waterfall feature was out of order, with stagnant muddy water and live larvae; and decorative fountains were running but full of algae. The buffet was good if you arrived early. Later, dishes tended to be cold and dry. We didn’t try the à la carte restaurant, and found ourselves looking forward to eating out in the evenings. The hotel is nice, just tired in places, and in our opinion poor value compared with others in the same price range. We’ve stayed in 3-star and 5-star hotels in more than 20 countries, so we feel we have a fair basis for comparison. This is the first time I’ve felt the need to write a somewhat negative review, which is disappointing.

The grounds were lush and well kept, and the pools had warm seawater. A special thanks to the waiter, Bruien, who was always friendly, attentive, and ready to help. The hotel is conveniently located, just a 10-minute walk from the stunning Playa del Duque beach. We had a great time there!

Everything I needed was within walking distance, and the location was excellent. The staff were amazing, friendly, and very professional. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable, with a great balcony where a morning tea or coffee would have been lovely. There wasn’t a kettle or coffee in the room, though. I’d certainly stay here again.

The buffet waiters made our stay much more enjoyable, especially Esau, who deserves a thank you. The hotel is really pretty, with an impressive main hall and a lovely seafront view. Staff treated us kindly and respectfully. The room access system was well thought out: the bracelet works like a credit card, opens your room, and lets you pay at checkout. We had a lateral sea view room with a beautiful view of the seafront. The food was amazing, congratulations to the cooking team. Hygiene standards are high, and I didn’t get sick once. The elevators look really cool 🤙🏻. There are lots of activities you can book through the hotel, which is handy when you’re short of things to do. My one small complaint is the lack of private underground parking. You have to park on the road in front or beside the hotel. We had a rental car, and any scratch means you have to pay, so be careful when parking. Also, for sporty people like me, the gym is unfortunately horrible, really only good for a desperate workout. You’ll need a gym in town for a proper session. There’s a leg curl/extension, dumbbells up to 17.5KG, and a cable machine that’s almost broken with just three attachments. It was nearly perfect, and I’d recommend it and come back just for Esau, my man 🤙🏻
