Paraiso del Sol

We booked a last-minute getaway after finding this place online, and for the price, you can't go wrong. The room had a kitchenette with a fridge/freezer, a safe, a full bathroom, and a balcony with a sea view. The pool was clean and clear, and the bar beside it served food and drinks from brunch through late lunch. The location may be the best part. The beach is a five-minute walk away, Siam Park takes 15 minutes on foot, and there's an amazing restaurant, Taby, across the road. Supermarkets are on each corner, and the taxi rank is around the corner too. We had a great trip.

We came back from a lovely stay as a family of five. The kids absolutely loved the place, and we had no problems during the visit. Our room was modern, tidy, very clean, and close to both the pool and supermarket. The cleaners came daily to make the beds and leave fresh towels, and they were all friendly. Everyone we spoke to was polite and friendly with the kids. The gentleman who checked us in was exceptional: he showed us around and pointed out where everything was. Natalia at breakfast was also lovely and exceptional. We'll definitely visit again.

The good point is that shops and restaurants are close, and Costa Adeje is a short walk away. But the stay has been extremely disappointing, and we feel the misleading listing put us in this situation. We expected a clean, bright apartment that was easy to access, but the rooms looked nothing like the pictures. No one told us the hotel was split across 3/4 buildings. To reach our room, 5-10 minutes from the pictured reception, we had to cross an unstable wooden bridge and go through a shady, poorly lit alleyway. We felt our safety was at risk each evening. Because of the location, which we also hadn't been told about, we haven't managed more than two hours' sleep a night. Noise has been constant, including fights and screaming. It's daunting, especially on a trip to a country we've never visited before. The apartments were extremely dirty, with thick dust on every surface, especially under the bed, and even footprint marks on the ceiling. The showerhead holder had come off the wall, the toilet wobbled a lot when you sat on it, and the bathroom window lock was faulty and broken. These inconveniences, which weren't our fault, have seriously spoiled the trip.

The location is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Jonathan, the lifeguard, deserves a special mention for being funny and helpful. Nuria at the bar is always smiling and works hard. The bar's food and drinks are great, and you have to try the omelet.
