Finca La Mareta

The house has a special charm, and the setting is wonderful for getting away from city noise and bustle. All you hear are shearwaters and crickets. The one downside was that lots of leaves from the trees end up in the pool. Yone, the young man who looks after the property, was very attentive.

A wonderful place, protected from mass tourism. The welcome was impeccable and helpful. It was truly one of the best places and moments.

The winding road to the property has no lighting. Once there, the place is a pleasant country house in the north of Gran Canaria, made up of several homes that can be rented separately. Our three-bedroom house had one bathroom, set inside one of the bedrooms. It was spacious and had towels and toiletries, though things looked a little worn. The furniture in the main bedroom was very old, and reaching the beds in the smaller bedrooms meant climbing a ladder that wasn’t fixed to the wall, so it wouldn’t suit anyone who isn’t very agile. There was a porch with a table and chairs, and the well-equipped kitchen was in a separate building. The property also has a swimming pool, but we didn’t use it because it was very cold.

The people looking after the property were so attentive, especially the father and son. The Canarian houses felt magical, with the scent of special wood as soon as you came in, rustic ceilings, a very clean pool, and a games room. It’s a wonderful little villa. We’ll definitely be back.
