La Palmita de Canarias

The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere suited the region, elegant without being too pretentious. I was wearing jogging pants and felt perfectly comfortable. The prices were great for the quality, even for someone on a budget. The steak completely blew me away. At 40, I’ve eaten filet mignon plenty of times, and sometimes had to force it down, but this was a 400 g piece, 7 cm thick, incredibly tender, and cooked perfectly medium-rare. It was pink in the middle, with no blood on the plate, and needed barely any chewing. No sinew or lumps at all. The size, taste, and look of it were amazing. The generous salad had a fragrant, tasty dressing, and the homemade bread with herb butter was delicious. They let me finish the butter with the leftover homemade fries. The huge carafe of over a litre for two people and my triple Bailey’s with ice were generous and lovely too. I don’t usually write reviews, but this meal was so good I had to share it. Our group meal was more than perfect, so I can’t understand the one-star or under-four-star reviews. I don’t know what went wrong for those people that day. I’m glad I’m still in town for a few more days and can eat there again. It’s one of my best restaurant experiences, and if Google had a six-star option, I’d give it six plus. Anyone vacationing here should visit.
