I really wish I hadn't stayed here. I feel a bit bad writing this because I think the place could improve, but it made me deeply uncomfortable. The decor is unsettling, the chairs are uncomfortable to sit in, and the host seemed to monitor everything I did. Every half hour or so she made the rounds, apparently to see whether people were breaking rules rather than to check that things were okay. She spoke rapidly in Spanish, so if you're not fluent, you can only hope to pick up a few words. Getting to the apartment means climbing steep, uneven stairs. The host wouldn't let guests eat anywhere inside, and there was no way to wash dishes, which is a problem if you need to clean a water bottle between hikes. You have to secure your room with what felt like the least secure padlock imaginable. One night, she locked me out with a lock that could only be opened from inside, while I was sitting on the stairs right in front of the door. Apparently, you're not allowed to dry laundry on coat hangers, keep food anywhere except the fridge, or throw food away in the apartment. You also can't use the provided water cookers outside your room, shut the only doors between the kitchen and room that reliably stay closed, or close the window when it's noisy outside. There seems to be a reason the place is so cheap.

The location is nice, and there are lovely views around, but the place was hard to find. There are lots of cats, and poop all the way up. The room style and breakfast were poor, and it felt expensive for what you get.

The service was very good and everything was spotless, but the place itself leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms and decor have little charm, and some windows look onto a dining room. Bathrooms are shared. The back room was very damp, while the other rooms felt dark and uncomfortable. Getting there also means climbing a lot of stairs. It's a shame, because it could be better.

The hostess is friendly, and the rural setting in a traditional Canarian house could suit you well if you're there to hike and get to know the area and its people. It's not luxurious, though, and you have to climb a couple of stairs to reach it. If you expect to spend much time indoors, I wouldn't recommend it: there's no TV in the bedroom, and the rest of the house is shared.

The room has no view, either because there's no window or because it looks into the dining room. Breakfast is a roll, a nap, butter, coffee and milk. And peace and quiet are hard to come by with two dogs locked up nearby, barking and yapping.
