Aginaga Hotela

We were already on the road for hours after leaving Scotland for Galicia via France when my wife realized she'd left her expensive outdoor jacket in our room. Aginaga Hotela found it and packed it up so we could arrange for the Spanish postal service to collect it and get it back to her a few days later. The staff really went out of their way to help. We'd picked this place for a one-night stop near San Sebastián, booking only a couple of hours ahead because of the location and reasonable price, breakfast included. The receptionist was friendly and showed us to a room with a huge, very comfortable bed and a great shower room. Tired from the drive, we ate at the hotel. The menu was basic, but good value. After a good night's sleep, we had a lovely, filling breakfast before setting off again. Fantastic experience, and such good value. I'd give them six stars if I could.

Rooms were clean, though the Wi-Fi didn't reach every room. It's quite affordable for the location, with Zarautz and San Sebastián both an easy drive away. Breakfast was simple, with pastries, deli meats, toast and similar options.

The room had a humidity problem, and without extra ventilation our things stayed a bit damp. Still, the price was very reasonable and the location makes it easy to get to San Sebastian and the Flysch Cliffs. Breakfast was good, especially the freshly squeezed juice, and the shower had strong water pressure, which you don't find in a lot of hotels. Next door, there's a cheap restaurant with delicious food and homemade cider, plus a 10% discount for hotel guests.

We came back for a second visit and will return again. Arantxa was so kind and welcoming, and couldn't have been more helpful. The room was very comfortable, with the best shower I've had in a hotel. Breakfast was excellent too. It's in a stunning location, and a fabulous hotel.
