Club Menorca gives you sweeping views over the south coast without the crowds, high prices or corporate feel of nearby Cova d'en Xoroi. It’s a small, adults-only guesthouse, bar and restaurant run by a family, with a rustic, unpolished feel rather than luxury. The food is straightforward Mediterranean cooking, including seafood, burgers and traditional tapas. It’s honest and good, though not fine dining. The big draw is the setting. Three open-air terraces are built at different levels into the steep cliff, overlooking the horseshoe-shaped bay of Cala en Porter. Having breakfast or an evening drink while yachts anchor in the turquoise water is a treat. On a clear afternoon, you can see across the sea to Mallorca’s northern coast. There are practical downsides. To reach the property from street level, you have to go down 53 steep stone steps cut into the cliff, and there’s no elevator. That could be a daily struggle with mobility issues, heavy luggage or a dislike of stairs in the midday heat. The rooms are clean but basic and rustic. The old cliffside building and proximity to the sea mean they can feel humid, and you might come across an island insect. Anyone expecting modern, soundproofed five-star luxury may be disappointed. On the other hand, you can fall asleep and wake up to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks below. It’s a memorable, romantic place for a sunset drink or relaxed dinner, as long as you’re comfortable with the stairs and simpler setup.
