Molino Rio Alajar

A lovely setting for a relaxed solo break. The cottage had everything I needed, and I felt really well looked after throughout my stay. Peter, Monica, and Vanessa made my time at Molino Rio Alajar absolutely perfect.

The owners' hospitality made an already great stay even better, and the villas are beautifully fitted out. Getting there meant driving our oversized rental SUV about a hundred yards along a narrow, winding driveway with walls on either side. That was my own doing, though, and the place was well worth it.

My parents, my toddler, and I had a wonderful stay, and we're definitely coming back. The cottage felt quaint and beautiful inside, with thoughtful touches everywhere, from a crib to parchment paper in the kitchen. There's a regular pool and a kids' pool, plus a tennis court where you can also play basketball or football. The property is exceptionally well kept, with neat grass, trees, flowers, and stone paths. Up in the mountains, it's surrounded by lovely forest and streams. Everything exceeded my expectations.

The driveway up to the property is extremely narrow, so be warned. Once there, we found immaculate gardens, tasteful cottages inside and out, and a lovely pool with shady spots. The night sky was wonderful for stargazing, and there seemed to be no mosquitoes at all, hurrah! Our garden did look out onto a large pylon, though the friendly cats visiting made up for it. July was sweltering, so the bedroom air conditioning was much appreciated. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms spacious, but the kitchen could use more equipment and some of the bedding was a little tired. The owners were very helpful. The charming local town is a short drive away or about a 25-minute walk. It would be great if they offered some meals, even breakfast a couple of times a week. We'd definitely recommend the place and are sure we'll visit again.
