El Refugio de la Sauca

The village is beautiful and full of charm, and the apartment had a terrace with a barbecue, tables, and chairs for eating outside. I stayed there March 20th to 24th and had an incredible time. Everything was spotless, and the bed was very comfortable. Perfect, highly recommended.

The Sierra de Guadarrama scenery left us fascinated, and we went home happy after a really pleasant stay. We spent two harmonious days in a welcoming, comfortable, very clean place. Carmen was attentive to every detail and always available. We felt at home, thanks also to her son Isaac, who speaks perfect Italian.

The radiators got unbearably hot at night, so we had to turn them off. They also kept making noise until they had cooled completely, which made sleeping difficult. I wouldn't pay €75/night for this apartment again. We chose El Saúco because of the good reviews, but it didn't meet our expectations. The double bed felt small, and the kitchen was missing some basics, including a dish towel, stovetop cleaner, paper towels, and napkins. The smoke detector went off whenever we cooked, even with the extractor on full and the window open. The owner was quite friendly, but on our last day we asked if we could leave our things at the apartment while we went for a walk after lunch. We had food in the fridge and didn't expect to be back late, but she said it wasn't possible. The day before we arrived, she had told us check-in was from 5 pm. We weren't planning to arrive earlier, though at other rural guesthouses we've often found hosts flexible about this.

We stayed at this country house for our wedding weekend, and the cottages had everything we needed. The layout made it easy for different families to spend time together without feeling crowded. The location is beautiful, too. Carmen was wonderful, understood what we needed, and made everything easy. We were very grateful for her excellent service. We'd definitely stay here again.
