Gran Hotel Aqualange - Balneario de Alange

We spent one night here and tried the mineral water bath. It left us feeling really refreshed.

I only ate here, so I can’t judge the hotel overall, but the meal was a terrible experience. I sat on the veranda and asked for a menu, then was told food wasn't served there and I’d have to eat in the restaurant, which opens at 9 pm. Ten minutes later, locals were being served a whole spread of impressive-looking dishes. I started with 12 croquettes and ate 10. I liked the squid and Iberico ham ones. Then came the steak, which was tiny, with no fries despite being assured I’d get some. There were three slices of potato skin instead, which I think they were trying to turn into a poorly conceived fondant. The chimichurri was lovely, but the mushrooms were far too salty and ruined the meal. I asked for the mushrooms to be taken back to the chef. The waitress returned saying the chef was sorry the chimichurri was salty. When I asked if he’d tasted the mushrooms, she said he had and they were fine. I told her the guy must be LOCO!! I paid and left, and won’t be back.

I really enjoyed my stay at this spa hotel, and the food was excellent. It might not suit everyone, though, my wife struggled with it a bit.

The hotel is lovely inside and very well cared for, with great service. It’s close to the lake, which has wonderful views. I’d absolutely recommend it.
