The location is stunning, but the rooms, food and service made for a bitter stay. I left feeling that a place with so much potential had been let down by poor service, cheap meals and rooms that weren’t well maintained. I booked because Hotel Las Nubes was advertised as “pet friendly,” then found dogs were only allowed in the so-called “Cave” room. That was also the most expensive room, and it looked outdated, with holes in the window covering. Dinner was bagged salad, canned tuna and dressing sachets. Breakfast cost extra and was mostly BIMBO bread, supermarket croissants and coffee from a thermos. Only the fruit and orange juice were fresh. Paying over €200 per night, plus high food costs, made that especially disgraceful. The receptionist was rude and brushed off my complaints with “Es una casa rural.” But a casa rural should mean fresh local food prepared with care, not cheap industrial products. Calling it rural doesn’t excuse the low quality.

The staff were very friendly, and we enjoyed our stay despite the occasional confusion with the organisation. We had a perfectly adequate room in the hotel building, with a lovely large bathroom. There are also purpose-built rooms they call cave's (Cuevas), which looked comfortable and fun for a novelty stay, though we didn’t try one. Maybe next time. It’s a charming place in the middle of nowhere, and we’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone after a few quiet days. We only had one night, so couldn’t fully enjoy the tranquility of the rural setting. If you’re booking, check which services will be available. We were disappointed to find that when the swimming pool is accessible, the Spa facilities aren’t.

The hosts were super kind and helpful. They got us to the hotel, then helped recover our car with a tractor the next morning. We’d followed Google Maps and ended up on a road that was very muddy after the rain, where the car got stuck. Follow their directions instead and go through Albalate de Zorita. It’s still not the best route for ordinary cars, and a 4x4 may be more suitable. We loved the setting in the “Cueva”, with the Jacuzzi and chimney keeping the room cozy and warm. I’d recommend staying, breakfast included, but check the route instructions and weather first.

The location and views were excellent, but we came away disappointed, especially after looking forward to this hotel weekend. The room was fine otherwise, and dinner was adequate, though dinner is only available from 9 to 10 pm. We booked a cave for a birthday because of the jacuzzi, only to find it wasn’t working when we arrived. Reception couldn’t arrange a repair or another room. The manager later called and offered compensation, and the service was good, but it still left a bad taste since the jacuzzi was the reason we chose that room. The cave was also quite small, and even though it’s designed for a couple, two people couldn’t fit comfortably in the jacuzzi together. The button was clearly broken, so I don’t understand how this wasn’t noticed while cleaning. If we’d been called before arriving, we could have considered changing our travel dates. The spa was disappointing too. It seemed expensive for the facilities, some of the jets weren’t working, and there are only two afternoon sessions. There’s no option to go in the morning.
