Olympia Hotel Events & Spa

I called the hotel this morning and chose option 2 for English. When Lorena answered, I politely asked whether she spoke English. She said no, so I explained I had questions and asked what to do. She abruptly hung up. I called straight back to ask why, and then she said she did speak English. I pointed out that I’d selected the English option and reasonably expected help in English. Partly in Spanish, she told me, “This is Spain. You should speak Spanish Carino .” I was shocked by how dismissive and unprofessional that was. I travel internationally often and have never had front desk staff speak to me with that kind of hostility. I’d been ready to spend €500 on a booking for next weekend, but I won’t book now. I’ll also report the incident to management. No guest should be spoken to like that, especially after choosing the English option. Extremely disappointing service from Lorena.

The staff we met for the massage, spa and restaurant were all fantastic and made the whole visit lovely. The facilities were good too. I’d like to come back and spend time at the hotel itself sometime soon.

I finished a cycle ride from Santander here, and the dedicated bike workshop was a real bonus. I could wash my bike, do a few small repairs, and pack it into a box for my flight. The staff were efficient and great, and I enjoyed the spa as well. I’d stay again without hesitation.

The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff friendly, and breakfast decent. There’s a supermarket nearby, and the metro is only a few steps away, so getting into Valencia centre is straightforward. The hotel is outside the centre, though, and you really need a car to get around easily, especially at night. Free street parking is usually available out front, or the private garage costs €10/day. A few things felt cheap for a supposed 4-star place. I asked the cafeteria for cutlery to eat something in my room and was told I had to buy wooden disposable utensils for €1. They were nearly useless, the knife couldn’t cut anything and the fork barely worked. They said proper metal cutlery would come with room service, but otherwise only the wooden ones were available, for purchase. The spa is shared with the local community and only open at certain times. It’s okay for a short stay if you have your own transport, but the service and experience don’t really match the 4-star rating.
