Hotel Planas

We loved that Hotel Planas was away from the busy end of Salou, while still close to what we needed. It's a gentle, flat walk to the shops and bars, and we spent the day at the beach. We didn't try the pool or restaurant, as the restaurant reviews were poor. The hotel was beautifully clean, which matters a lot to us. Our simple room had everything we needed: air conditioning, towels, soap and hair and body wash, plus a balcony about a chair's width across and a lovely sea view. The bed was a little firm for us. The walls seemed thin, and we could hear people around us and noise outside, but it didn't keep us awake. Staff at the desk were helpful and all spoke English. Housekeeping knocked at 9 am. Since we were only there for two nights, we put a sign on the door asking them to skip cleaning. On our last day, the huge left luggage lockers were useful. They need a 2€ coin. Breakfast had plenty of bread, rolls, pastries and yoghurt, and we both found enough to eat, so it wasn't a real disappointment. Still, the fried eggs on the first day were stone cold; the scrambled eggs on day two looked dried out by around 9:30. The mini sausages looked like hot dogs, the thin bacon was very fatty, and both were cold. There were salamis, cold meats and cheese, too. The UHT milk wasn't refrigerated and got warm. The juice was either very watered down or much too strong, and nothing was labelled, so we had to try things without knowing what they were. Cheap, clean and a great hotel. We'd visit again!

We stayed seven nights and had no complaints. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel is right opposite the beach. Our room was ready early and the staff were very helpful. The pool and bar area were relaxing. Great hotel, I'd give it more than three stars. Thanks to the Hotel Planas staff. We'll be back.

The receptionists were nice, but almost everything else was awful. The room looked cheap and tacky, more like a motel. The bathroom might suit one of the seven dwarfs, and the toilet seat wasn't screwed on properly. The air conditioning clicked annoyingly every eight seconds, and the Wi-Fi was so bad you'll need 4G. The pool was small and dull, though at least the beach is within walking distance. I can't speak to the food or spa, but based on the rest, I wouldn't expect much. For your own well-being, don't stay here. You'll regret it.

I was travelling alone and have a disability. The care and help I received here were the best I've had in Spain, even after staying at hundreds of Spanish 3, 4 and 5-star hotels. This review reflects what I paid per night in May 2024. I planned one night while travelling through Spain, then ended up staying four. The hotel's location is perfect, in my favourite, authentic part of Salou, by the old town and harbour. The beach is literally a two-minute walk away, and everything is easy to reach. There are great tapas, boutique shops, a Mercadona supermarket with cheap toiletries and SPF, and places to relax. The outdoor terrace feels inviting and classy, and a glass of good wine was only £2.40. I got a lovely welcome, and the reception area was clean and welcoming. My room was perfect, with excellent air conditioning, a comfortable bed and a lovely hot shower. Breakfast was good and plentiful, especially for something included in the price. People mention outside noise in earlier reviews, but it seems to come from neighbouring bars on weekends when people are enjoying themselves. You can join in or, like me, use earplugs until the bars close. Special thanks to Christine the Receptionist, a native English speaker, who went above and beyond to help me. Ignore the low reviews, this hotel has been renovated.
