H10 Salauris Palace

The animation team kept both kids and adults happy and busy, and the kitchen and bar staff were always smiling. Esmeralda deserves special credit, she goes above and beyond, so ask her if you need help. The staff really made the place for us. We’ve just come back from two amazing weeks and can’t wait to return next year. The rooms were lovely, there was a big choice of food and drinks, and there’s a little book corner with really comfy seats. The pool and rooftop were beautiful too. It’s a perfect spot, about a 10-minute walk to port adventura, the shops and the beach. This feels like our second home!

The noise was the one thing that really got in the way of an otherwise enjoyable week at H10 Salauris Palace. We’d asked for a quiet room both when booking and at check-in, and the hotel was only half full, yet we were put on the first floor right above the bar. People talked, laughed and screamed inside and outside until 1am. We were also right in front of the daytime animation team’s speaker, which was booming so loudly people were talking about it and you could hear it halfway to Salou. On flamenco night, after a full day out, we went to bed early, but the adult entertainment starts at 10pm. The stamping and music were so loud the room was literally shaking. The hotel Facebook group was full of complaints about banging from floors 5 and 6 on the other side. We were directly above it on floor 1. In 40 years of hotel holidays, I’ve never had a room noise problem like this. Even so, there was a lot to like. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed while still looking smart. The air conditioning was great and easy to use, the free Wi-Fi had no weak spots or dropouts, and the firm beds were comfortable. They were two large singles pushed together to make a super king. The towels were nice and there were good toiletries, so you don’t need to bring your own. The food was great at breakfast and dinner, with plenty of choice. I especially loved the slow-cooked meats, including braised beef and pork in lovely gravy or sauces, spare ribs, steak and grilled fish. My husband’s favourite was the freshly made pizza. The coffee machine made nice coffee, but it was really slow. Most people were making tea, and an urn for boiling water would help. My only food quibble was the soup station right in the middle of the queue for main courses. With no trays, people had to queue twice or ask to push through for soup, which I noticed wasn’t always welcomed. The soups smelled lovely, but I didn’t have room to try them. Location was good, though a nearby bus stop would’ve helped. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the closest one, outside H10 Salou Princess, then another 7-10 minutes to the main stop outside McDonalds. That’s fine if you have no mobility problems and it isn’t boiling hot. If you have mobility issues, consider somewhere closer to the main drag, and definitely avoid Cap Salou as it’s all hills. I’d still recommend the hotel, but request a quiet room if noise matters to you.

We’ve already booked to come back next year with even more family members, and can’t wait. We first stayed as a couple, then returned two months later with our three children. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and the kids were sad to leave. The hotel was spotless, very well run and organised, with polite, helpful staff throughout. Our room was huge for a family of five, so even with the children still wanting to be with us, there was space for everyone. The entertainment was out of this world. The animation crew were all fab, with loads for little ones to do and great activities in the pool. They knew how to connect with people and get everyone in the mood for games. The cold jacuzzi was the only real downside, and it didn’t spoil an incredible week. The indoor pool was cold too, and only a couple of the jacuzzi jets worked. The full body massage, though, was excellent and I’d highly recommend it. I’d absolutely recommend H10 Salauris Palace, and for the first time I’m already planning to book another stay. We wanted a relaxing break without travelling around, and there was more than enough to keep us entertained for seven nights. The entertainment was a real highlight, varied and great for adults and children. The team worked tirelessly from morning to night, with poolside activities and fantastic evening shows. The hotel always felt positive and welcoming. The staff were the standout: everyone we met was friendly, helpful and upbeat. I also loved being able to practice Spanish with them, one of the few hotels where I could, and they encouraged me. The hotel was very clean. Some parts looked a little dated, but were well kept and functional. The buffet had day-to-day variety, though I don’t expect endless change from one restaurant. If you want something different, the dining strip is less than a 10-minute walk away. We never waited for a table. There was a short wait for coffee one morning, but restaurant service was efficient overall and guests were respectful. Check-in was simple because I’d done it online. When we arrived, we just paid and got our wristbands, which also work for cashless payments at the pool bar. Checkout was even easier. The location is convenient: a six-minute drive to PortAventura, three minutes by car or a 10-minute walk to the beach, with shops nearby. The beach and strip are immaculate and lively. We had a hire car, so I can’t comment on public transport. We enjoyed meeting new friends, both international guests and locals, and liked the atmosphere around the pool. The hotel also managed sunbed reservations well and kept things fair.
