Emilia showed us the separate apartment, and we loved it. It sleeps six, has a dishwasher and a big refrigerator, and comes with its own entrance. A great option for next time. We had a lovely weekend in El Perche in the one-room accommodation, and Emilia was really friendly. We were lucky to have the place to ourselves, since the dining room and kitchen might feel small with more guests, and the refrigerator is tiny if you have to share it.
The owners were very friendly, but after booking they never got in touch to explain how to get there or give us the check-in and check-out times. The house is in a very pretty little village and is fine, but it misses basics for a rural guesthouse where there isn't a shop or bar. There was no bathroom soap or anything for breakfast, which matters even for a weekend stay. It also isn't cheap for the area and what they provide.
Emilia is lovely and family-oriented, and she pays attention to what guests need and their well-being. The El Perche country house feels welcoming, with tasteful decor. Alcaine is a beautiful village in a spectacular natural setting.
Alcaine is a small town and a great base for excursions into spectacular nature, with a chance to get away from the bustle of a big city. We were especially impressed by how friendly the owners, Juanjo and Emi, were. The building was clean and modern, and the rural setting was very peaceful. An unforgettable stay.
The rooms get really hot, so air conditioning would be a good idea, even though the stay was very comfortable. The extractor fan in the shared bathroom doesn't work and water leaks from the shower. We stayed two nights, and on the last day breakfast was only coffee with milk because they hadn't replenished what had been used the day before. A bit of a disaster.
